FC Madras is a professional football club and training academy based out of Chennai.
Started in 2006 as Mahogany Football Club, FC Madras was one of the first academies in the city to provide grassroots training for kids across Chennai. It was founded by Arindam Biswas, a business graduate with a passion for football who saw an opportunity to develop the sport for the next generation of players in the city. He started out on a mission to take football from being just a hobby for kids to a competitive sport similar to the way it’s seen across the world. Soon, he was joined by his friend from B-school, Joseph, who helped him expand operations across the city and take it to the next level. Having both left their corporate jobs behind, Arindam and Joseph have been running FC Madras for over 10 years.
Today, FC Madras is one of the most prominent football clubs in Chennai and we have over 500 players across age groups in our training programs. With over 20 centres across the city and several certified coaches among our ranks, FC Madras has one of the best training schools in India. We also run a high-performance football academy with a fully-sponsored scholarship for talented players every year. As a part of this program, we give players exclusive access to both a residential campus and an international size football pitch that is being developed in partnership with Ramaniyam.
In addition to our training program and our academy, FC Madras competes with other teams across Chennai and all over India in various regional competitions. Our U13/U15 teams were the first to take part in the Youth Division of the I-League from the state of Tamil Nadu in 2014, and have since been regularly featured in the competition to play at the highest levels of kids football in the country.
Our aim is to make FC Madras one of the biggest football clubs in India, and we’re passionate about helping the young footballers of today become the stars of tomorrow. We believe we can get there by providing high-quality training and competition to kids of all ages – to not only improve their game but also promote overall health and fitness. Along the way, we hope to change the way football is looked at in our part of the world. While we have Madras at the heart of everything we do, we believe in diversity and our doors are always open to players from across the country.
Having been a successful business for over 10 years, FC Madras is now backed by a charitable trust run by Girish Mathrubootham of Freshworks and Retd. Hon’ble Justice Padmanabhan.
